The CALME Space: Building the Blueprint for Vulnerable Texans.
Our Core Commitment: Access. Stability. Advancement.
Mission Statement:
The CALME Space carries forward a legacy of belonging by building an inclusive ecosystem where every vulnerable Texan finds the vital resources and skills needed to thrive, ensuring no one stands alone.
Vision Statement:
We envision a Texas where every individual, regardless of age or ability, has guaranteed access to the foundational resources necessary for lifelong vitality, contribution, and dignity.
Why We Do What We Do
Our mission stems from the belief that every Texan deserves guaranteed access to resources for lifelong dignity, regardless of age or ability. We know that systemic barriers—driven by geographical inequity which disproportionately impact the North Texas community, and our collective movement aims to address these issues.
Highest In Need:
We serve and champion the rapidly growing populations of older adults and people with disabilities. This is our mission's core focus, starting in Dallas County and expanding across the North Texas Metroplex.
Our Catalyst for Equity
Our data-backed approach is the catalyst for achieving true health equity and accelerating economic mobility. We ensure our services are deployed with precision by using U.S. Census Bureau ACS data.
Hyper-Local Resource Gaps
We utilize Resource Mapping GIS to identify where critical neighborhood service gaps persist in nutritious food access, restorative spaces, and workforce development.
Compounded Vulnerability:
27.5% of Texas adults report living with a disability, a population National Institutes of Health designates as experiencing significant health disparities.
Our Pillars: Creating a Sustainable & Equitable Future
This pillar directly drives economic mobility for vulnerable Texans. We provide formal and informal education through Professional Pathways, which includes the ALL Pathways Program for job skill advancement and mentorship. Our Recruitment Median function tracks connections, placing individuals into company opportunities to ensure measurable career progression. The Community Book Club supports foundational conversational skills necessary for professional success.
We deliver data-driven solutions to close resource gaps and enhance local assets. Resource Mapping (GIS) provides transparent, measurable data on food deserts, green space inequities, and resource availability. This information is used to deploy targeted responses to critical needs. We activate green spaces by organizing community events and managing long-term stewardship.
The Closet ensures organizational sustainability and workforce capacity. It functions as our Ethical Design Lab, generating earned income that reduces reliance on external funding. This revenue funds the Fellowship Pipeline, providing first-hand capacity development for new Fellows to support all three core pillars of The CALME Space.
